Sumac Enterprises' mission is to open the minds of children and adults to wonders and tragedies in U.S. history, the tradition of verbal arts, the hope in intercultural understandings, and the spirit and science of ecology.  Sumac Enterprises was developed by Fred and Ross  Shaw to stimulate a life-long curiosity and commitment to learning in their audiences through living history experiences and personal historical narratives.  The father-son pair are dedicated historians who are recognized as exceptional storytellers and educators.  Together, they have fifty years of experience in public speaking and living history demonstrations.

Fred and Ross--individually or as a team--present programs for schools, universities and graduate schools, libraries, churches, synagogues, historical societies, and Scout groups.  Fred, also known as Neeake, has extensively travelled telling stories of the Shawnee.   The stories have carried him from sea-t0-sea and into Europe.   Take a look at the "About Us" page for more information about the innovative programs available from the Shaws.
